Artist Statement:
I cherish the act of recording my memories and life, clinging to a specific time and space. As I observe myself and the world around me, fascinated by constant change. Naturally, the subject matter of my artistic experiments is largely influenced by the flow of my daily life. One might consider my work as a visual biography. While recording, I find inspiration in literature, poetry, daily news, and everyday objects.
Lately, I’ve been contemplating the profound impact we, as human beings, have left on the Earth. It’s challenging to comprehend the far-reaching consequences of our current existence. My recent work revolves around the concepts of construction, deconstruction, conservation,and rebuilding. These terms are commonly used in architecture, but I would like to explore these concepts in the context of self-reflection.
I primarily work as a printmaker, but I often find myself exploring other mediums to convey my story. My background as an architect also adds an element of structure to my creative process.
I’m originally from Istanbul, Turkiye, and have been living in Seattle for over two decades with my family.
