We are witnessing violence and injustice against women all around the world, this has been happening for centuries. We can’t dismiss these agonies as long past but instead feel their urgency -the fact that parallel moments are playing out now throughout the world.
Show dedicated to the heroic Iranian women who made the very difficult decision of being out on the streets to voice their anger despite the threat of being imprisoned and killed.

"Grandmother, Mother and Granddaughter" one of the pieces I worked on for Voices of Women Show at Studio 103 in December 2022. It is a photomontage of three generations of women in our family. Here I am, next to my grandmother and my mother, realizing that my grandmother’s expectations for future were more optimistic than mine. What changed? Or What cannot be changed? Those are the questions that boggle my mind.

“Dissonant Symphony”
Monoprint, mixed media.

Although the women’s movement made significant improvements in women’s lives all over the world in this century, gender equality is still an idea on a pendulum, swinging back and forth into darkness. So, the language of the movement’s discourse has remained and continued to be the same over the years. While I was working on this piece, I got lost in the language, words like: invisible, denied,... It is hard to wrap one’s head around, thinking that we are still fighting for the same basic human rights.
